Höret, ihr vom Hause Israel, dies Wort! denn ich muss dies Klagelied über euch machen:
Hear this word, O house of Israel, this lamentation I take up against you:
Die Jungfrau Israel ist gefallen, dass sie nicht wieder aufstehen wird; sie ist zu Boden gestoßen, und ist niemand, der ihr aufhelfe.
“Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again. She lies abandoned on her land, with no one to raise her up.”
Denn so spricht der Herr HErr: Die Stadt, da tausend ausgehen, soll nur hundert übrig behalten; und da hundert ausgehen, die soll nur zehn übrig behalten im Hause Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will have but a hundred left, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
Darum so spricht der HErr zum Hause Israel: Suchet mich, so werdet ihr leben.
For this is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: “Seek Me and live!
Suchet nicht Beth-El und kommet nicht gen Gilgal und gehet nicht gen Beer-Seba; den Gilgal wird gefangen weggeführt werden, und Beth-El wird Beth-Aven werden.
Do not seek Bethel or go to Gilgal; do not journey to Beersheba, for Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will come to nothing (note: Hebrew to Aven, a reference to Beth-aven, a derogatory term for Bethel; see Hosea 4:15.).
Suchet den HErrn, so werdet ihr leben! dass nicht ein Feuer im Hause Joseph überhand nehme, das da verzehre und das niemand löschen könne zu Beth-El;
Seek the LORD and live, or He will sweep like fire through the house of Joseph; it will devour everything, with no one at Bethel to extinguish it.
die ihr das Recht in Wermut verkehrt und die Gerechtigkeit zu Boden stoßt.
There are those who turn justice into wormwood and cast righteousness to the ground.
Er machte die Plejaden und den Orion; der aus der Finsternis den Morgen und aus dem Tag die finstere Nacht macht; der dem Wasser im Meer ruft und schüttet es auf den Erdboden: er heißt HErr;
He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns darkness into dawn and darkens day into night, who summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth—the LORD is His name—
der über den Starken eine Verstörung anrichtet und bringt eine Verstörung über die feste Stadt.
He flashes destruction on the strong, so that fury comes upon the stronghold.
Aber sie sind dem gram, der sie im Tor straft, und halten den für einen Greuel, der heilsam lehrt.
There are those who hate the one who reproves in the gate and despise him who speaks with integrity.
Darum, weil ihr die Armen unterdrückt und nehmt das Korn mit großen Lasten von ihnen, so sollt ihr in den Häusern nicht wohnen, die ihr von Werkstücken gebaut habt, und den Wein nicht trinken, den ihr in den feinen Weinbergen gepflanzt habt.
Therefore, because you trample on the poor and exact from him a tax of grain, you will never live in the stone houses you have built; you will never drink the wine from the lush vineyards you have planted.
Denn ich weiß euer Übertreten, des viel ist, und eure Sünden, die stark sind, wie ihr die Gerechten drängt und Blutgeld nehmt und die Armen im Tor unterdrückt.
For I know that your transgressions are many and your sins are numerous. You oppress the righteous by taking bribes; you deprive the poor of justice in the gate.
Darum muss der Kluge zur selben Zeit schweigen; denn es ist eine böse Zeit.
Therefore, the prudent keep silent in such times, for the days are evil.
Suchet das Gute und nicht das Böse, auf dass ihr leben möget, so wird der HErr, der Gott Zebaoth, bei euch sein, wie ihr rühmet.
Seek good, not evil, so that you may live. And the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be with you, as you have claimed.
Hasset das Böse und liebet das Gute; bestellt das Recht im Tor, so wird der HErr, der Gott Zebaoth, den übrigen in Joseph gnädig sein.
Hate evil and love good; establish justice in the gate. Perhaps the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
Darum so spricht der HErr, der Gott Zebaoth, der HErr: Es wird in allen Gassen Wehklagen sein, und auf allen Straßen wird man sagen: „Weh! weh!”, und man wird den Ackermann zum Trauern rufen, und zum Wehklagen, wer da weinen kann.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: “There will be wailing in all the public squares and cries of ‘Alas! Alas!’ in all the streets. The farmer will be summoned to mourn, and the mourners to wail.
In allen Weinbergen wird Wehklagen sein; denn ich will unter euch fahren, spricht der HErr.
There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst,” says the LORD.
Weh denen, die des HErrn Tag begehren! Was soll er euch? Denn des HErrn Tag ist Finsternis und nicht Licht.
Woe to you who long for the Day of the LORD! What will the Day of the LORD be for you? It will be darkness and not light.
Gleich als wenn jemand vor dem Löwen flöhe, und ein Bär begegnete ihm; und er käme in ein Haus und lehnte sich mit der Hand an die Wand, und eine Schlange stäche ihn.
It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his hand against the wall, only to be bitten by a snake.
Denn des HErrn Tag wird ja finster und nicht licht sein, dunkel und nicht hell.
Will not the Day of the LORD be darkness and not light, even gloom with no brightness in it?
Ich bin euren Feiertagen gram und verachte sie und mag eure Versammlungen nicht riechen.
“I hate, I despise your feasts! I cannot stand the stench of your solemn assemblies.
Und ob ihr mir gleich Brandopfer und Speisopfer opfert so habe ich keinen Gefallen daran; so mag ich auch eure feisten Dankopfer nicht ansehen.
Even though you offer Me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; for your peace offerings of fattened cattle I will have no regard.
Tue nur weg von mir das Geplärr deiner Lieder; denn ich mag dein Psalterspiel nicht hören!
Take away from Me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
Es soll aber das Recht offenbart werden wie Wasser und die Gerechtigkeit wie ein starker Strom.
But let justice roll on like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
Habt ihr vom Hause Israel mir in der Wüste die vierzig Jahre lang Schlachtopfer und Speisopfer geopfert?
Did you bring Me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Ihr truget den Sikkuth, euren König, und Chiun, euer Bild, den Stern eurer Götter, welche ihr euch selbst gemacht hattet.
You have taken along Sakkuth your king and Kaiwan your star god (note: LXX You have taken along the tabernacle of Molech and the star of your god Rephan), the idols you made for yourselves.
So will ich euch wegführen lassen jenseit Damaskus, spricht der HErr, der Gott Zebaoth heißt.
Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus (note: Cited in Acts 7:42–43),” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Hosts.
