Écoutez cette parole, que je profère sur vous, — une lamentation, — maison d'Israël :
Hear this word, O house of Israel, this lamentation I take up against you:
Elle est tombée, elle ne se relèvera plus, la vierge d'Israël ! Elle est renversée sur sa terre, personne ne la relèvera.
“Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again. She lies abandoned on her land, with no one to raise her up.”
Car ainsi parle Yahweh : La ville qui se mettait en campagne avec mille guerriers en gardera cent ; celle qui se mettait en campagne avec cent en gardera dix, pour la maison d'Israël.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will have but a hundred left, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
Car ainsi parle Yahweh à la maison d'Israël : Cherchez-moi et vivez !
For this is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: “Seek Me and live!
Ne cherchez pas Béthel, ne venez pas à Galgala, ne passez pas à Bersabée ! Car Galgala sera emmené captif, et Béthel deviendra néant.
Do not seek Bethel or go to Gilgal; do not journey to Beersheba, for Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will come to nothing (note: Hebrew to Aven, a reference to Beth-aven, a derogatory term for Bethel; see Hosea 4:15.).
Cherchez Yahweh et vivez, de peur qu'il ne fonde, comme un feu, sur la maison de Joseph, et ne la dévore, sans que Béthel ait personne pour éteindre.
Seek the LORD and live, or He will sweep like fire through the house of Joseph; it will devour everything, with no one at Bethel to extinguish it.
Ils changent le droit en absinthe, et jettent à terre la justice !
There are those who turn justice into wormwood and cast righteousness to the ground.
Il a fait les Pléiades et Orion ; il change en aurore les ténèbres, et le jour en une nuit obscure ; il appelle les eaux de la mer, et les répand sur la face de la terre ; Yahweh est son nom.
He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns darkness into dawn and darkens day into night, who summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth—the LORD is His name—
Il fait éclater la ruine sur le puissant, et la ruine fond sur la ville forte.
He flashes destruction on the strong, so that fury comes upon the stronghold.
Ils haïssent à la Porte celui qui censure ; et celui qui parle avec intégrité, ils l'ont en horreur.
There are those who hate the one who reproves in the gate and despise him who speaks with integrity.
C'est pourquoi, parce que vous foulez aux pieds le pauvre, et que vous prélevez sur lui un tribut de blé ; vous avez bâti des maisons en pierres de taille, et vous n'y habiterez pas, vous avez planté des vignes excellentes, et vous n'en boirez pas le vin.
Therefore, because you trample on the poor and exact from him a tax of grain, you will never live in the stone houses you have built; you will never drink the wine from the lush vineyards you have planted.
Car je sais que nombreux sont vos crimes, que grands sont vos péchés, vous qui opprimez le juste, qui prenez des présents, et qui faites fléchir le droit des pauvres à la Porte.
For I know that your transgressions are many and your sins are numerous. You oppress the righteous by taking bribes; you deprive the poor of justice in the gate.
C'est pourquoi l'homme sage, en ce temps-ci, se tait ; car c'est un temps mauvais.
Therefore, the prudent keep silent in such times, for the days are evil.
Cherchez le bien et non le mal, afin que vous viviez, et qu'ainsi Yahweh, le Dieu des armées, soit avec vous, comme vous le dites.
Seek good, not evil, so that you may live. And the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be with you, as you have claimed.
Haïssez le mal et aimez le bien, et restaurez le droit à la Porte : peut-être Yahweh, le Dieu des armées, aura-t-il pitié du reste de Joseph !
Hate evil and love good; establish justice in the gate. Perhaps the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh, le Dieu des armées, le Seigneur : Dans toutes les places, on se lamentera ; dans toutes les rues on dira : Hélas ! hélas ! On appellera le laboureur au deuil, et aux lamentations, avec ceux qui savent gémir.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: “There will be wailing in all the public squares and cries of ‘Alas! Alas!’ in all the streets. The farmer will be summoned to mourn, and the mourners to wail.
Dans toutes les vignes on se lamentera ; car je passerai au milieu de toi, dit Yahweh.
There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst,” says the LORD.
Malheur à ceux qui désirent le jour de Yahweh ! Que sera-t-il pour vous, le jour de Yahweh ? Il sera ténèbres, et non lumière.
Woe to you who long for the Day of the LORD! What will the Day of the LORD be for you? It will be darkness and not light.
Comme un homme qui s'enfuit devant le lion, et l'ours vient à sa rencontre ; il entre dans sa maison, appuie sa main sur le mur, et le serpent le mord !...
It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his hand against the wall, only to be bitten by a snake.
N'est-il pas ténèbres, le jour de Yahweh, et non lumière, obscurité, sans aucun éclat ?
Will not the Day of the LORD be darkness and not light, even gloom with no brightness in it?
Je hais, je dédaigne vos fêtes, je n'ai aucun goût à vos assemblées.
“I hate, I despise your feasts! I cannot stand the stench of your solemn assemblies.
Si vous m'offrez vos holocaustes et vos oblations, je n'y prends pas plaisir, et vos sacrifices de veaux engraissés, je ne les regarde pas.
Even though you offer Me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; for your peace offerings of fattened cattle I will have no regard.
Éloigne de moi le bruit de tes cantiques ; que je n'entende pas le son de tes harpes !
Take away from Me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
Mais que le jugement coule comme l'eau, et la justice comme un torrent qui ne tarit pas !
But let justice roll on like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
Des sacrifices et des oblations m'en avez-vous offert, dans le désert pendant quarante ans, maison d'Israël ?
Did you bring Me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Vous avez porté la tente de votre roi, et Kijoum, vos idoles, l'étoile de votre dieu, que vous vous êtes fabriqué.
You have taken along Sakkuth your king and Kaiwan your star god (note: LXX You have taken along the tabernacle of Molech and the star of your god Rephan), the idols you made for yourselves.
Je vous déporterai par delà Damas, dit Yahweh ; Dieu des armées est son nom.
Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus (note: Cited in Acts 7:42–43),” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Hosts.
