Ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἠρρώστησεν Ἑζεκίας εἰς θάνατον. καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ἠσαίας υἱὸς Ἀμὼς ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἔντειλαι τῷ οἴκῳ σου· ἀποθνήσκεις σὺ καὶ οὐ ζήσῃ.
In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Put your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’”
καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Ἑζεκίας πρὸς τὸν τοῖχον, καὶ ηὔξατο πρὸς Κύριον λέγων
Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying,
Ὤ δὴ Κύριε, μνήσθητι δὴ ὅσα περιεπάτησα ἐνώπιόν σου ἐν ἀληθείᾳ καὶ καρδίᾳ πλήρει, καὶ τὸ ἀγαθόν σου ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου ἐποίησα. καὶ ἔκλαυσεν Ἑζεκίας κλαυθμῷ μεγάλῳ.
“Please, O LORD, remember how I have walked before You faithfully and with wholehearted devotion; I have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
καὶ ἦν Ἠσαίας ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τῇ ῥῆμα καὶ ῥῆμα Κυρίου ἐγένετο πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων
Before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard (note: LXX and an alternate MT reading; the other alternate reads the middle of the city), the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
Ἐπίστρεψον καὶ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς Ἑζεκίαν τὸν ἡγούμενον τοῦ λαοῦ μου Τάδε λέγει Κύριος ὁ θεὸς Δαυεὶδ τοῦ πατρός σου Ἤκουσα τ σου, είδον τὰ δάκρυά σου. ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἰάσομαί σε, τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἀναβήσῃ εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου.
“Go back and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. I will surely heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the house of the LORD.
καὶ προσθήσω επὶ τὰς ἡμέρας σου πέντε καὶ δέκα καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς χειρὸς βασιλέων Ἀσσυρίων σώσω σε καὶ τὴν ταύτην· ταύτην· καὶ ὑπερασπιῶ ὑπὲρ τῆς πόλεως ταύτης δι’ ἐμὲ καὶ διὰ Δαυεὶδ τὸν δοῦλόν μου.
I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for My sake and for the sake of My servant David.’”
καὶ εἶπεν Λαβέτωσαν παλάθην σύκων καὶ ἐπιθέτωσαν ἐπὶ τὸ ἕλκος, καὶ ὑγιάσει.
Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” So they brought it and applied it to the boil, and Hezekiah recovered.
καὶ εἶπεν Ἑζεκίας πρὸς Ἠσαίαν Τί τὸ σημεῖον ὅτι ἰάσεται Κύριός με, καὶ ἀναβήσομαι εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ;
Now Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the house of the LORD on the third day?”
καὶ εἶπεν Ἠσαίας Τοῦτο τὸ σημεῖον παρὰ Κυρίου ὅτι ποιήσει Κύριος τὸν λόγον ὅν ἐλάλησεν· πορεύσεται ἡ σκιὰ δέκα βαθμούς, ἐὰν ἐπιστρέφῃ δέκα βαθμούς.
And Isaiah had replied, “This will be a sign to you from the LORD that He will do what He has promised: Would you like the shadow to go forward ten steps, or back ten steps?”
καὶ εἶπεν Ἑζεκίας Κοῦφον τὴν σκιὰν κλῖναι δέκα βαθμούς· οὐχί, ἀλλ’ ἐπιστραφήτω ἡ σκιὰ ἐν τοῖς ἀναβαθμοῖς δέκα βαθμοὺς εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω.
“It is easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps,” answered Hezekiah, “but not for it to go back ten steps.”
καὶ ἐβόησεν Ἠσαίας ὁ προφήτης πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ἢ σκιὰ ἐν τοῖς ἀναβαθμοῖς εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω δέκα βαθμούς.
So Isaiah the prophet called out to the LORD, and He brought the shadow back the ten steps it had descended on the stairway of Ahaz.
Ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀπέστειλεν Μαρωδαχβαλδὰν υἱὸς Βαλαὰν βασιλεὺς βαβυλῶνος βιβλία καὶ μαναὰν πρὸς Ἑζεκίαν, ὅτι ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἠρρώστησεν Ἑζεκίας.
At that time Merodach-baladan (note: Some Hebrew manuscripts, LXX, and Syriac (see also Isaiah 39:1); MT Berodach-baladan) son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he had heard about Hezekiah’s illness.
καὶ ἐχάρη ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς Ἑζεκίας, καὶ ἔδειξεν ἀυτοῖς ὅλον τὸν οἶκον τοῦ νεχωθά, τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ σίον, τὰ ἀρώματα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τὸ ἀγαθόν, καὶ τὸν οἰκον τῶν καὶ ὅσα ηὑρέθη ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς αὐτοῦ· οὐκ ἧν λόγος ὃν οὐκ ἔδειξεν αὐτοῖς Ἑζεκίας ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ ἐξουσίᾳ αὐτοῦ.
And Hezekiah received the envoys and showed them all that was in his treasure house—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, as well as his armory—all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his palace or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Ἠσαίας ὁ προφήτης πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Εζεκίαν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν Τί ἐλάλησαν οἱ ἄνδρες οὗτοι, καὶ πόθεν ἥκασιν πρὸς σέ; καὶ εἶπεν Ἑζεκίας Ἐκ γῆς πόρρωθεν ἥκασιν πρὸς μέ, ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος.
Then the prophet Isaiah went to King Hezekiah and asked, “Where did those men come from, and what did they say to you?” “They came from a distant land,” Hezekiah replied, “from Babylon.”
καὶ εἶπεν Τί εἶδον ἐν τῷ οἴκω σου; καὶ εἶπεν Πάντα ὅσα ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου εἰδον· οὐκ ἦν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου ὃ οὐκ ἔδειξα αὐτοῖς, ἁλλὰ καὶ τὰ ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς μου.
“What have they seen in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have seen everything in my palace,” answered Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
καὶ εἶπεν Ἠσαίας πρὸς Ἑζεκίαν Ἅκουσον λόγον Κυρίου·
Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD:
ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται καὶ λημφθήσεται πάντα τὰ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου καὶ ὄσα ἐθησαύρισαν οἱ πατέρες σου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης εἰς Βαβυλῶνα· καὶ οὐχ ὑπολειφθήσεται ῥῆμα ὃ εἶπεν Κύριος·
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου οἳ ἐξελεύσονται ἐκ σοῦ οὓς γεννήσεις λήμψεται, καὶ ἔσονται εὐνοῦχοι ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
καὶ εἶπεν Ἑζεκίας πρὸς εὐνοῦχοι Ἠσαίαν ὁ λόγος Κυρίου ὃν ἐλάλησεν.
But Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the LORD that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “Will there not at least be peace and security in my lifetime?”
καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τῶν λόγων Ἑζεκίου καὶ πᾶσα ἡ δυναστεία αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅσα ἐποίησεν, τὴν κρήνην καὶ τὸν ὑδραγωγόν, καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν τὸ ὕδωρ εἰς τὴν πόλιν, οὐχὶ ταῦτα γεγραμμένα ῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερὼν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν Ἰούδα ;
As for the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, along with all his might and how he constructed the pool and the tunnel (note: Or watercourse or conduit) to bring water into the city, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
καὶ ἐκοιμήθη μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Μανασσὴ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ.
And Hezekiah rested with his fathers, and his son Manasseh reigned in his place.
