Manasse war zwölf Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte fünfundfünzig Jahre zu Jerusalem
Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years.
und tat, was dem HErr übel gefiel, nach den Greueln der Heiden, die der HErr vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte,
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD by following the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.
und baute wieder Höhen, die sein Vater Hiskia abgebrochen hatte und stiftete den Baalim Altäre und machte Ascherabilder und betete an alles Heer des Himmels und diente ihnen.
For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had torn down, and he raised up altars for the Baals and made Asherah poles. And he worshiped and served all the host of heaven.
Er baute auch Altäre im Hause des HErrn, davon der HErr geredet hat: Zu Jerusalem soll mein Name sein ewiglich;
Manasseh also built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “My Name will remain in Jerusalem forever.”
und baute Altäre allem Heer des Himmels in beiden Höfen am Hause des HErrn.
In both courtyards of the house of the LORD, he built altars to all the host of heaven.
Und er ließ seine Söhne durchs Feuer gehen im Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms und wählte Tage und achtete auf Vogelgeschrei und zauberte und stiftete Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter und tat viel, was dem HErrn übel gefiel, ihn zu erzürnen.
He sacrificed his sons in the fire (note: Literally made his sons pass through the fire) in the Valley of Ben-hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.
Er setzte auch das Bild des Götzen, das er machen ließ, ins Haus Gottes, davon Gott zu David geredet hatte und zu Salomo, seinem Sohn: In diesem Hause zu Jerusalem, das ich erwählt habe vor allen Stämmen Israels, will ich meinen Namen setzen ewiglich;
Manasseh even took the carved image he had made and set it up in the house of God, of which God had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name forever.
und will nicht mehr den Fuß Israels lassen weichen von dem Lande, das ich ihren Vätern bestellt habe, sofern sie sich halten, dass sie tun alles, was ich ihnen geboten habe, in allem Gesetz und den Geboten und Rechten durch Mose.
I will never again cause the feet of the Israelites to leave the land that I assigned to your fathers, if only they are careful to do all that I have commanded them through Moses—all the laws, statutes, and judgments.”
Aber Manasse verführte Juda und die zu Jerusalem, dass sie ärger taten denn die Heiden, die der HErr vor den Kindern Israel vertilgt hatte.
So Manasseh led the people of Judah and Jerusalem astray, so that they did greater evil than the nations that the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites.
Und wenn der HErr mit Manasse und seinem Volk reden ließ, merkten sie nicht darauf.
And the LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they did not listen.
Darum ließ der HErr über sie kommen die Fürsten des Heeres des Königs von Assyrien, die nahmen Manasse gefangen mit Fesseln und banden ihn mit Ketten und brachten ihn gen Babel.
So the LORD brought against them the military commanders of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles, and took him to Babylon.
Und da er in Angst war, flehte er vor dem HErrn, seinem Gott, und demütigte sich sehr vor dem Gott seiner Väter
And in his distress, Manasseh sought the favor of the LORD his God and earnestly humbled himself before the God of his fathers.
und bat und flehte zu ihm. Da erhörte er sein Flehen und brachte ihm wieder gen Jerusalem zu seinem Königreich. Da erkannte Manasse, dass der HErr Gott ist.
And when he prayed to Him, the LORD received his plea and heard his petition. So He brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.
Darnach baute er die äußere Mauer an der Stadt Davids abendswärts an Gihon im Tal und wo man zum Fischtor eingeht und umher an den Ophel und machte sie sehr hoch und legte Hauptleute in die festen Städte Judas
After this, Manasseh rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David from west of Gihon in the valley to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and he brought it around the hill of Ophel and heightened it considerably. He also stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities of Judah.
und tat weg die fremden Götter und den Götzen aus dem Hause des HErrn und alle Altäre, die er gebaut hatte auf dem Berge des Hauses des HErrn und zu Jerusalem, und warf sie hinaus vor die Stadt
He removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, along with all the altars he had built on the temple mount (note: Literally the mountain of the house of the LORD) and in Jerusalem, and he dumped them outside the city.
und richtete zu den Altar des HErrn und opferte darauf Dankopfer und Lobopfer und befahl Juda, dass sie dem HErrn, dem Gott Israels, dienen sollten.
Then he restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed peace offerings and thank offerings on it, and he told Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.
Doch opferte das Volk noch auf den Höhen, wiewohl dem HErrn, ihrem Gott.
Nevertheless, the people still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the LORD their God.
Was aber mehr von Manasse zu sagen ist und sein Gebet zu seinem Gott und die Reden der Seher, die mit ihm redeten im Namen des HErrn, des Gottes Israels, siehe, die sind unter den Geschichten der Könige Israels.
As for the rest of the acts of Manasseh, along with his prayer to his God and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel (note: That is, Judah; in 2 Chronicles, Judah is occasionally called Israel, as representative of the true Israel.), they are indeed written in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
Und sein Gebet und Flehen und alle seine Sünde und Missetat und die Stätten, darauf er die Höhen baute und Ascherabilder und Götzen stiftete, ehe denn er gedemütigt ward, siehe, die sind geschrieben unter den Geschichten der Seher.
His prayer and how God received his plea, as well as all his sin and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself, they are indeed written in the Records of the Seers (note: Or the Records of the Hozai or the Annals of the Prophets).
Und Manasse entschlief mit seinen Vätern und sie begruben ihn in seinem Hause. Und sein Sohn Amon ward König an seiner Statt.
And Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried at his palace. And his son Amon reigned in his place.
Zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt war Amon, da er König ward, und regierte zwei Jahre zu Jerusalem
Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years.
und tat, was dem HErrn übel gefiel, wie sein Vater Manasse getan hatte. Und Amon opferte allen Götzen, die sein Vater Manasse gemacht hatte, und diente ihnen.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done. Amon served and sacrificed to all the idols that his father Manasseh had made,
Aber er demütigte sich nicht vor dem HErrn, wie sich sein Vater Manasse gedemütigt hatte; denn er, Amon machte der Schuld viel.
but he did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had done; instead, Amon increased his guilt.
Und seine Knechte machten einen Bund wieder ihn und töteten ihn in seinem Hause.
Then the servants of Amon conspired against him and killed him in his palace.
Da schlug das Volk im Lande alle, die den Bund wider den König Amon gemacht hatten. Und das Volk im Lande macht Josia, seinen Sohn zum König an seiner Statt.
But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah king in his place.
