Und Josaphat hatte große Reichtümer und Ehre und verschwägerte sich mit Ahab.
Now Jehoshaphat had an abundance of riches and honor, and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.
Und nach etlichen Jahren zog er hinab zu Ahab gen Samaria. Und Ahab ließ ihn für das Volk, das bei ihm war, viel Schafe und Ochsen schlachten. Und er beredete ihn, dass er hinauf gen Ramoth in Gilead zöge.
And some years later he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria, where Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle for him and the people with him and urged him to march up to Ramoth-gilead.
Und Ahab, der König Israels, sprach zu Josaphat, dem König Judas: Zieh mit mir gen Ramoth in Gilead! Er sprach zu ihm: Ich bin wie du, und mein Volk wie dein Volk; wir wollen mit dir in den Streit.
Ahab king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat replied, “I am as you are, and my people are your people; we will join you in the war.”
Aber Josaphat sprach zum König Israels: Frage doch heute des HErrn Wort!
But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of the LORD.”
Und der König Israels versammelte vierhundert Mann und sprach zu ihnen: Sollen wir gen Ramoth in Gilead ziehen in den Streit, oder soll ich's anstehen lassen? Sie sprachen: Zieh hinauf! Gott wird sie in deine Hand geben.
So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, “Should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up,” they replied, “and God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
Josaphat aber sprach: Ist nicht irgend noch ein Prophet des HErrn hier, dass wir durch ihn fragen?
But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here of whom we can inquire?”
Der König Israels sprach zu Josaphat: Es ist noch ein Mann, dass man den HErrn durch ihn frage, aber ich bin ihm gram; denn er weissagt über mich kein Gutes, sondern allewege Böses, nämlich Micha, der Sohn Jemlas. Josaphat sprach: der König rede nicht also.
The king of Israel answered, “There is still one man through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good for me, but only bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” “The king should not say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.
Und der König Israels rief einen seiner Kämmerer und sprach: Bringe eilend her Micha, den Sohn Jemlas!
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”
Und der König Israels und Josaphat, der König Judas, saßen ein jeglicher auf seinem Stuhl, mit ihren Kleider angezogen. Sie saßen aber auf dem Platz vor der Tür am Tor zu Samaria; und alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.
Dressed in royal attire, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.
Und Zedekia, der Sohn Knaenas, machte sich eiserne Hörner und sprach: So spricht der HErr: Hiermit wirst du die Syrer stoßen, bis du sie aufreibst.
Now Zedekiah son of Chenaanah had made for himself iron horns and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are finished off.’”
Und alle Propheten weissagten auch also und sprachen: Zieh hinauf gen Ramoth in Gilead! es wird dir gelingen; der HErr wird sie geben in des Königs Hand.
And all the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph, for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
Und der Bote, der hingegangen war, Micha zu rufen, redete mit ihm und sprach: Siehe, der Propheten Reden sind einträchtig gut für den König; lass doch dein Wort auch sein wie derselben eines und rede Gutes.
Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah instructed him, “Behold, with one accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak favorably.”
Micha aber sprach: So wahr der HErr lebt, was mein Gott sagen wird, das will ich reden.
But Micaiah said, “As surely as the LORD lives, I will speak whatever my God tells me.”
Und da er zum König kam, sprach der König zu ihm: Micha, sollen wir gen Ramoth in Gilead in den Streit ziehen, oder soll ich's lassen anstehen? Er sprach: Ja, ziehet hinauf! es wird euch gelingen; es wird euch in eure Hände gegeben werden.
When Micaiah arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up and triumph,” Micaiah replied, “for they will be delivered into your hand.”
Aber der König sprach zu ihm: Ich beschwöre dich noch einmal, dass du mir nichts denn die Wahrheit sagst im Namen des HErrn.
But the king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”
Da sprach er: Ich sehe das ganze Israel zerstreut auf den Bergen wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und der HErr sprach: Diese haben keinen HErrn; es kehre ein jeglicher wieder heim mit Frieden.
So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”
Da sprach der König Israels zu Josaphat: Sagte ich dir nicht: Er weissagt über mich kein Gutes, sondern Böses?
Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he never prophesies good for me, but only bad?”
Er aber sprach: Darum höret des HErrn Wort! Ich sah den HErrn sitzen auf seinem Stuhl, und alles Himmlische Heer stand zu seiner Rechten und zu seiner Linken.
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.
Und der HErr sprach: Wer will Ahab, den König Israels, überreden, dass er hinaufziehe und falle zu Ramoth in Gilead? Und da dieser so und jener anders sagte,
And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to march up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one suggested this, and another that.
kam ein Geist hervor und trat vor den HErrn und sprach: Ich will ihn überreden. Der HErr aber sprach zu ihm: Womit?
Then a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ ‘By what means?’ asked the LORD.
Er sprach: Ich will ausfahren und ein falscher Geist sein in aller Propheten Mund. Und er sprach: Du wirst ihn überreden und wirst es ausrichten; fahre hin und tue also!
And he replied, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ ‘You will surely entice him and prevail,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’
Nun siehe, der HErr hat einen falschen Geist gegeben in dieser deiner Propheten Mund, und der HErr hat Böses wider dich geredet.
So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced disaster against you.”
Da trat herzu Zedekia, der Sohn Knaenas, und schlug Micha auf den Backen und sprach: Welchen Weg ist der Geist des HErrn von mir gegangen, dass er durch dich redete?
Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah went up, struck Micaiah in the face, and demanded, “Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go when He departed from me to speak with you?”
Micha sprach: Siehe, du wirst es sehen des Tages, wenn du von einer Kammer in die andere gehen wirst, dass du dich versteckst.
Micaiah replied, “You will soon see, on that day when you go and hide in an inner room.”
Aber der König Israels sprach: Nehmt Micha und lasst ihn bleiben bei Amon, dem Stadtvogt, und bei Joas, dem Sohn des Königs,
And the king of Israel declared, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son,
und sagt: So spricht der König: Legt diesen ins Gefängnis und speist ihn mit Brot und Wasser der Trübsal, bis ich wiederkomme mit Frieden.
and tell them that this is what the king says: ‘Put this man in prison and feed him only bread and water until I return safely.’”
Micha sprach: Kommst du mit Frieden wieder, so hat der HErr nicht durch mich geredet. Und er sprach: Höret, ihr Völker alle!
But Micaiah replied, “If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Take heed, all you people!”
Also zog hinauf der König Israels und Josaphat, der König Judas, gen Ramoth in Gilead.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
Und der König Israels sprach zu Josaphat: Ich will mich verkleiden und in den Streit kommen; du aber habe deine Kleider an. Und der König Israels verkleidete sich, und sie kamen in den Streit.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.
Aber der König von Syrien hatte den Obersten über seine Wagen geboten: Ihr sollt nicht streiten, weder gegen klein noch gegen groß, sondern gegen den König Israels allein.
Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders, “Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”
Da nun die Obersten der Wagen Josaphat sahen, dachten sie: Es ist der König Israels! und umringten ihn, wider ihn zu streiten. Aber Josaphat schrie; und der HErr half ihm, und Gott wandte sie von ihm.
When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “This is the king of Israel!” So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.
Denn da die Obersten der Wagen sahen, dass er nicht der König Israels war, wandten sie sich von ihm ab.
And when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
Es spannte aber ein Mann seinen Bogen von ungefähr und schoss den König Israels zwischen Panzer und Wehrgehänge. Da sprach er zu seinem Fuhrmann: Wende deine Hand und führe mich aus dem Heer, denn ich bin wund!
However, a certain man drew his bow without taking special aim, and he struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So the king said to his charioteer, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am badly wounded!”
Und der Streit nahm zu des Tages. Und der König Israels stand auf seinem Wagen gegen die Syrer bis an den Abend und starb, da die Sonne unterging.
The battle raged throughout that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. And at sunset he died.
