Le roi Salomon était roi sur tout Israël.

So King Solomon ruled over Israel,

4:2

Voici les chefs qu'il avait à son service : Azarias, fils de Sadoc, était le premier ministre ;

and these were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok was the priest;

Elihoreph et Ahia, fils de Sisa, étaient secrétaires ; Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, était archiviste ;

Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons , were secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;

4:4

Banaïas, fils de Joïadas, commandait l'armée ; Sadoc et Abiathar étaient prêtres ;

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in charge of the army; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

4:5

Azarias, fils de Nathan, était chef des intendants ; Zabud, fils de Nathan, prêtre, était conseiller intime du roi ;

Solomon had twelve governors over all Israel to provide food for the king and his household. Each one would arrange provisions for one month of the year,

Voici leurs noms : Ben-Hur, dans la montagne d'Ephraïm ; —

and these were their names: Ben-hur in the hill country of Ephraim;

Ben-Décar, à Maccès, à Salebim, à Beth-Sames et à Elon de Béthanan ; —

Ben-deker in Makaz, in Shaalbim, in Beth-shemesh, and in Elon-beth-hanan;

4:10

Ben-Hésed, à Aruboth : il avait Socho et toute la contrée d'Epher ; —

Ben-hesed in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher belonged to him);

Ben-Gaber, à Ramoth-de-Galaad : il avait les Bourgs de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, qui sont en Galaad ; il avait la contrée d'Argob qui est en Basan, soixante grandes villes à murailles et à barres d'airain ; —

Ben-geber in Ramoth-gilead (the villages of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead belonged to him, as well as the region of Argob in Bashan with its sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars);

Ahinadab, fils d'Addo, à Manaïm ; —

Ahinadab son of Iddo in Mahanaim;

Ahimaas, en Nephthali : lui aussi avait pris pour femme une fille de Salomon, nommée Basemath ; —

Ahimaaz in Naphtali (he had married Basemath, a daughter of Solomon);

4:16

Baana, fils de Husi, en Aser et à Aloth ; —

Baana son of Hushai in Asher and in Aloth;

4:17

Josaphat, fils de Pharué, en Issachar ; —

Jehoshaphat son of Paruah in Issachar;

Geber son of Uri in the land of Gilead, including the territories of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan. There was also one governor in the land of Judah.

4:20

Juda et Israël étaient nombreux comme le sable qui est sur le bord de la mer ; ils mangeaient, buvaient et se réjouissaient.

The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore, and they were eating and drinking and rejoicing.
