And these [are] the names of the sons of Gedson; Lobeni, and Semei.
The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
The sons of Caath; Ambram, and Issaar, Chebron, and Oziel.
The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
The sons of Merari; Mooli and Musi: and these [are] the families of Levi, according to their families.
Eleazar was the father of Phinehas, Phinehas was the father of Abishua,
To Gedson—to Lobeni his son—[were born] Jeth his son, Zammath his son,
Abishua was the father of Bukki, Bukki was the father of Uzzi,
Joab his son, Addi his son, Zara his son, Jethri his son.
Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth,
The sons of Caath; Aminadab his son, Core his son, Aser his son;
Meraioth was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,
Helcana his son, Abisaph his son, Aser his son:
Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz,
Thaath his son, Uriel his son, Ozia his son, Saul his son.
Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, Azariah was the father of Johanan,
And the sons of Helcana; Amessi, and Achimoth.
Johanan was the father of Azariah, who served as priest in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem,
Helcana his son, Suphi his son, Cainaath his son;
Azariah was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,
Eliab his son, Jeroboam his son, Helcana his son.
Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Shallum,
The sons of Samuel; the first-born Sani, and Abia.
Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, Hilkiah was the father of Azariah,
The sons of Merari; Mooli, Lobeni his son, Semei his son, Oza his son;
Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak (note: Jehozadak is a variant of Jozadak; also in verse 15; see Ezra 3:2.).
Samaa his son, Angia his son, Asaias his son.
Jehozadak went into captivity when the LORD sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
And these [were the men] whom David set over the service of the singers in the house of the Lord when the ark was at rest.
The sons of Levi: Gershom (note: Gershom is a variant of Gershon; similarly in verses 17, 20, 43, 62, and 71; see verse 1.), Kohath, and Merari.
And they ministered in front of the tabernacle of witness [playing] on instruments, until Solomon built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and they stood according to their order for their services.
These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
And these [were the men] that stood, and their sons, of the sons of Caath: Æman the psalm singer, son of Joel, the son of Samuel,
The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
the son of Helcana, the son of Jeroboam, the son of Eliel, the son of Thoas,
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites listed according to their fathers:
the son of Suph, the son of Helcana, the son of Maath, the son of Amathi,
Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,
the son of Helcana, the son of Joel, the son of Azarias, the son of Japhanias,
Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.
the son of Thaath, the son of Aser, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Core,
The descendants of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,
the son of Isaar, the son of Caath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph (note: Ebiasaph is a variant of Abiasaph; also in verse 37; see Exodus 6:24.) his son, Assir his son,
And his brother Asaph, who stood at his right hand; Asaph the son of Barachias, the son of Samaa,
Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.
the son of Michael, the son of Baasia, the son of Melchia,
The descendants of Elkanah: Amasai, Ahimoth,
the son of Adai, the son of Ætham, the son of Zammam, the son of Semei,
Eliab (note: Eliab is also called Eliel; see verse 34. Both of these are other names for Elihu; see 1 Samuel 1:1.) his son (note: Hebrew; some LXX manuscripts include and Samuel his son; see verses 33–34 and 1 Samuel 1:19–20.), Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son.
the son of Jeeth, the son of Gedson, the son of Levi.
The sons of Samuel: Joel his firstborn and Abijah his second son (note: See Syriac and some LXX manuscripts (also verse 33 and 1 Samuel 8:2); Hebrew The sons of Samuel: the firstborn Vashni, then Abiah.).
And the sons of Merari their brethren on the left hand: Ætham the son of Kisa, the son of Abai, the son of Maloch,
The descendants of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,
the son of Amessias, the son of Bani, the son of Semer,
These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the LORD after the ark rested there.
the son of Mooli, the son of Musi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
They ministered with song before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem. And they performed their duties according to the regulations given them.
And their brethren according to the houses of their fathers, [were] the Levites who were appointed to all the work of ministration of the tabernacle of the house of God.
These are the men who served, together with their sons. From the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,
And Aaron and his sons [were] to burn incense on the altar of whole-burnt-offerings, and on the altar of incense, for all the ministry [in] the holy of holies, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all things that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded.
the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel (note: Eliel is also called Eliab; see verse 27. Both of these are other names for Elihu; see 1 Samuel 1:1.), the son of Toah,
And these [are] the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinees his son, Abisu his son,
the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,
Bokki his son, Ozi his son, Saraia his son,
the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,
Mariel his son, Amaria his son, Achitob his son,
the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,
Sadoc his son, Achimaas his son.
the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
And these [are] their residences in their villages, in their coasts, to the sons of Aaron, to their family the Caathites: for they had the lot.
Heman’s kinsman was Asaph, who served at his right hand: Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,
And they gave them Chebron in the land of Juda, and its suburbs round about it.
the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah (note: Most Hebrew manuscripts; some Hebrew manuscripts, one LXX manuscript, and Syriac Maaseiah), the son of Malchijah,
But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Chaleb the son of Jephonne.
the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,
And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge, [even] Chebron, and Lobna and her suburbs round about, and Selna and her suburbs, and Esthamo and her suburbs,
the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,
and Jethar and her suburbs, and Dabir and her suburbs,
the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.
and Asan and her suburbs, and Bæthsamys and her suburbs:
On the left were their kinsmen, the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,
and of the tribe of Benjamin Gabai and her suburbs, and Galemath and her suburbs, and Anathoth and her suburbs: all their cities [were] thirteen cities according to their families.
the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,
And to the sons of Caath that were left of their families, [there were given] out of the tribe, [namely], out of the half-tribe of Manasse, by lot, ten cities.
the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,
And to the sons of Gedson according to their families [there were given] thirteen cities of the tribe of Issachar, of the tribe of Aser, of the tribe of Nephthali, of the tribe of Manasse in Basan.
the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
And to the sons of Merari according to their families [there were given], by lot, twelve cities of the tribe of Ruben, of the tribe of Gad, [and] of the tribe of Zabulon.
Their fellow Levites were assigned to every kind of service of the tabernacle, the house of God.
So the children of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their suburbs.
But Aaron and his sons did all the work of the Most Holy Place. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.
And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Juda, and out of the tribe of the children of Symeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities which they call by name.
These were the descendants of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,
And [to the members] of the families of the sons of Caath there were also given the cities of their borders out of the tribe of Ephraim.
Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,
And they gave them the cities of refuge, Sychem and her suburbs in mount Ephraim, and Gazer and her suburbs,
Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,
and Ælon and her suburbs, and Gethremmon and her suburbs:
Now these were the territories assigned to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clan for their settlements, because the first lot fell to them:
and of the half-tribe of Manasse Anar and her suburbs, and Jemblaan and her suburbs, to the sons of Caath that were left, according to [each several] family.
They were given Hebron in the land of Judah and its surrounding pasturelands.
To the sons of Gedson from the families of the half-tribe of Manasse [they gave] Golan of Basan and her suburbs, and Aseroth and her suburbs.
But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.
And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kedes and her suburbs, and Deberi and her suburbs, and Dabor and her suburbs,
So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,
And of the tribe of Aser; Maasal and her suburbs, and Abdon and her suburbs,
Ashan (note: Ashan is a variant of Ain; see Joshua 21:16.), Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, together with their pasturelands.
and Acac and her suburbs, and Roob and her suburbs.
And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, together with their pasturelands. So they had thirteen cities in all among their families.
And of the tribe of Nephthali; Kedes in Galilee and her suburbs, and Chamoth and her suburbs, and Kariathaim and her suburbs.
To the rest of the Kohathites, ten cities were allotted from the half-tribe of Manasseh.
To the sons of Merari that were left, [they gave] out of the tribe of Zabulon Remmon and her suburbs, and Thabor and her suburbs:
The Gershomites (note: Gershomites is a variant of Gershonites; also in verse 71; see 1 Chronicles 23:7.), according to their clans, were allotted thirteen cities from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh in Bashan.
out of [the country] beyond Jordan; Jericho westward of Jordan: out of the tribe of Ruben; Bosor in the wilderness and her suburbs, and Jasa and her suburbs,
The Merarites, according to their clans, were allotted twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
and Kadmoth and her suburbs, and Maephla and her suburbs.
So the Israelites gave to the Levites these cities and their pasturelands.
Out of the tribe of Gad; Rammoth Galaad and her suburbs, and Maanaim and her suburbs,
They assigned by lot the cities named above from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
and Esebon and her suburbs, and Jazer and her suburbs.
And some of the clans of the Kohathites were given cities from the tribe of Ephraim for their territory:
