24:1
Porro filiis Aaron hæ partitiones erant. Filii Aaron : Nadab, et Abiu, et Eleazar, et Ithamar.
These were the divisions of the descendants of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
24:2
Mortui sunt autem Nadab et Abiu ante patrem suum absque liberis : sacerdotioque functus est Eleazar, et Ithamar.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father did, and they had no sons; so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
24:3
Et divisit eos David, id est, Sadoc de filiis Eleazari, et Ahimelech de filiis Ithamar, secundum vices suas et ministerium.
With the help of Eleazar’s descendant Zadok and Ithamar’s descendant Ahimelech, David divided them according to the offices of their service.
24:4
Inventique sunt multo plures filii Eleazar in principibus viris, quam filii Ithamar. Divisit autem eis, hoc est, filiis Eleazar, principes per familias sedecim : et filiis Ithamar per familias et domos suas octo.
Since more leaders were found among Eleazar’s descendants than those of Ithamar, they were divided accordingly. There were sixteen heads of families from the descendants of Eleazar and eight from the descendants of Ithamar.
24:5
Porro divisit utrasque inter se familias sortibus : erant enim principes sanctuarii, et principes Dei, tam de filiis Eleazar quam de filiis Ithamar.
Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both Eleazar’s and Ithamar’s descendants.
24:6
Descripsitque eos Semeias filius Nathanaël scriba Levites, coram rege et principibus, et Sadoc sacerdote, et Ahimelech filio Abiathar, principibus quoque familiarum sacerdotalium, et Leviticarum : unam domum, quæ ceteris præerat, Eleazar : et alteram domum, quæ sub se habebat ceteros, Ithamar.
The scribe, Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king and of the officers: Zadok the priest, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites—one family being taken from Eleazar, and then one from Ithamar.

24:19
Hæ vices eorum secundum ministeria sua, ut ingrediantur domum Domini, et juxta ritum suum sub manu Aaron patris eorum, sicut præceperat Dominus Deus Israël.
This was their appointed order for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
24:20
Porro filiorum Levi qui reliqui fuerant, de filiis Amram erat Subaël, et de filiis Subaël, Jehedeia.
Now these were the rest of the descendants of Levi: From the sons of Amram: Shubael (note: Shubael (twice in this verse) is a variant of Shebuel; see 1 Chronicles 23:16 and 1 Chronicles 26:24.); from the sons of Shubael: Jehdeiah.
24:21
De filiis quoque Rohobiæ, princeps Jesias.
As for Rehabiah, from his sons: The first was Isshiah.
24:22
Isaari vero filius Salemoth, filiusque Salemoth Jahath :
From the Izharites: Shelomoth (note: Shelomoth (twice in this verse) is a variant of Shelomith; see 1 Chronicles 23:18.); from the sons of Shelomoth: Jahath.
24:23
filiusque ejus Jeriau primus, Amarias secundus, Jahaziel tertius, Jecmaan quartus.
From the sons of Hebron: Jeriah was the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
24:24
Filius Oziel, Micha : filius Micha, Samir.
From the sons of Uzziel: Micah; from the sons of Micah: Shamir.
24:25
Frater Micha, Jesia : filiusque Jesiæ, Zacharias.
The brother of Micah: Isshiah; from the sons of Isshiah: Zechariah.
24:26
Filii Merari : Moholi, et Musi. Filius Oziau : Benno.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The son of Jaaziah: Beno.
24:27
Filius quoque Merari : Oziau, et Soam, et Zachur, et Hebri.
The descendants of Merari from Jaaziah: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
24:28
Porro Moholi filius, Eleazar, qui non habebat liberos.
From Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.
24:29
Filius vero Cis, Jerameel.
From Kish: Jerahmeel the son of Kish.
24:30
Filii Musi : Moholi, Eder et Jerimoth : isti filii Levi secundum domos familiarum suarum.
And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth (note: Jerimoth is a variant of Jeremoth; see 1 Chronicles 23:23.). These were the sons of the Levites, according to their families.
24:31
Miseruntque et ipsi sortes contra fratres suos filios Aaron coram David rege, et Sadoc, et Ahimelech, et principibus familiarum sacerdotalium et Leviticarum, tam majores quam minores : omnes sors æqualiter dividebat.
As their brothers the descendants of Aaron did, they also cast lots in the presence of King David and of Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the families of the priests and Levites—the family heads and their younger brothers alike.
